CEOP is set to merge with the National Crime Agency on 7 October, becoming the fourth "command" unit alongside economic crime, organised crime and the border police.
Jim Gamble quit when the merger was announced in 2010 over concerns CEOP would lose its independence. At the time, he claimed the move was "not in the interests of children".

Church of England bishop charged with indecently assaulting young boys
This follows an investigation by Sussex police.
The police investigated allegations of sexual offences by Ball against 19 young men and boys, in East Sussex and elsewhere between the 1970s and the early 1980s.
Two of the boys were 12 and 13 when the alleged offending occurred in the late 1970s.
